In BET’s Documentary, “My Mic Sounds Nice” which explored females in hip-hop.  The question that was begged at the end of the documentary was, “Who’s next?”  For a while, I thought we had a long way to come– not to discount Nicki Minaj and her fan base, but it seems like the female representation we get in hip-hop over and over again comes at an hypersexualized level.  It seems like since a lot of females believe that men do exploit them in music, they themselves play with it created these hoochie, and slutty alter egos.

Yes, I went on a tangent but all of that was used to say that there are a lot of really dope female artists coming out now, who definitely keep the true essence of hip-hop in their music.  Artists such as, Josie Stingray of The Honor Roll Crew, Rapsody, Jean Grae (not emerging but I never talk about female emcees and leave her out) and now T.Hobbs.  My pal Jonathan over at www.hiphopiscoolagain.com sent me this via Twitter and asked me what I thought of this artist and the song, and I must say I’m glad he sent this to me.  This is a dope song up and down the board.

She began writ ing at the young age of 9 years old and, since then, has even worked with Terrace Martin, PR1ME & BreadBoi. She’s also plan ning an upcom ing mix tape for this fall so be on the look out for that as well. I’m happy to be able to share this record with you all for your lis ten ing pleasure. I encourage you to leave com ments and share your thought about the artist and song.
