Songstress Muhsinah, has always had a really random, off beat, not quite sure where she was going with the song, and with her latest free EP, Gone, out today that doesn’t change much.  The EP is made basically from two different three track EP’s Urban & Suburban, which while listening to the project it makes complete sense.

The quirky and off beat approach that Muhsinah has always used for her projects however works really well and with this project, once again not much has changed.  The EP opens with “One” that starts with snaps almost putting you into the mindset of a “Whisper” part two.  This track is perhaps the most safe I’ve ever heard Muhsinah, almost puts you into the mindset of a song you’d hear Kelly Rowland or someone singing.  Let me explain.  Muhsinah’s music has always been something that you could only really hear her singing example “Stay Here” “Something Nice or Nothing At All,” but this song sounds like what’s popular now.  Don’t get me wrong, with her super amazing/melodic voice it’s still a cool song plus the lyrics are pretty cool.

The next track on the album is the title track from the project, “Gone” this song I pretty much love.  I love the way her voice sounds on this song in addition to the introduction, “There you are sucking all the air from me…” Essentially, this song is speaking about being Gone from a situation that’s toxic and really serves no purpose for your life.  ”Stop & Go” is perhaps my favorite from whole EP, I love this song– the beat, her voice, everything.

Overall, this sounds like a really dope project– once I listen to the whole project in it’s completion I will let you know my opinions, but I think I am a fan of this project once again.
