Erika over at MusicNerdery.com did a pretty dope interview with emcee The Kid Daytona leading up to the release of his new project released today, The Interlude 2. In the interview Daytona explained,
“This time around the songs music are just way bigger in production and the lyricism on there is even greater than on part 1. Part one was all about me getting across lyrics and a true Hip Hop, pure Hip Hop… But on part 2 I have actual records on there than can be huge radio records and what not. I’m just really blessed man. Honestly. As far as guest appearances… I’ll just give a few away: Goapele, Action Bronson, and Melanie Fiona to name just a few. Production wise, I have 6th Sense, 9th Wonder, Ryan Leslie, Harry Fraud, Statik Selektah, and DJ Mano just to name a few… Like I said. I’m blessed, truly.”
That’s what comes across from just the first listen of the project– a sense of growth lyrically, and on the production side for Daytona. The album was preceded by the first two leaks: “Love is Love,” featuring Melanie Fiona with production from 6th Sense, and “God is Good,” featuring Goapele with production from Statik Selektah both of which, set the tone for the project pretty well. The project features other collaborations from Tony Williams on “Camelot,” Kardinal Offishall on “Hurry Up & Weight,” Action Bronson on “Ivory Coast Crime Scene,” Iffy on “Paraphernalia (Get Away From The Radio),” as well as production from Harry Fraud, Million $ Mano, Frequency and some really dope live instrumentation. The project is available for free download
here, and is the perfect follow up to
The Interlude. Also, this project comes just in time for Christmas, why not give it as a gift– it’d be thoughtful, and a quality gift. I’m all for giving music and literary gifts!
