I’m one of those people who clearly hates being in the rain, but I love the rain of that makes any sense. Which it probably doesn’t.
But, I went into the city, in the rain, to see one of my favorite new singers, Lianne La Havas, who was making her San Francisco debut. What an amazing show. I believe that live performances can either make or break your perception of an artist. After I saw Blu, Below The Heavens, made no impact on my life — and I deleted the album. That is repetitive with other artist, but Lianne made me fall deeper in love with her debut LP Is Your Love Big Enough? as well as her EP, Lost & Found. Just beautiful. She sounded completely like she did on the album, but, it was better to see it live.
I wanted to show you what I mean, so I found some videos from the show online — one was filmed by my pal Jonathan of Hip-Hop is Cool Again. Lianne will be touring again in the states in April 2013 I believe, make sure to check her out.
And OMG can I gush for one second — as if I haven’t already. She sounds absolutely amazing live on “Elusive.” Despite this song being a cover, I think this is one of my favorite songs of the whole year.
