I was definitely trying to download this mixtape the other day, and it didn’t work until now, anyway, here is a new interview from Ms. Ashley Outrageous with Chris Cab.  In the interview, they spoke about his new mixtape, Echo Boom, and how the sound differentiates from his first release Foreword.  They also spoke about what genre he would classify his sound as, his thoughts on how the internet has helped his career, working with Wyclef and the Most Outrageous thing that’s happened to him.

Two weeks ago, Kooley High released their new project, David Thompson, and honestly, it’s a really, really solid project and great listen.  I definitely vibe out to that album super hard in the car and in my room or at my desk at work.

This summer, Charlie Smarts of Kooley High released his project, LowBottomMe, and here are the latest visuals from that project in the form of “Cortisone,” featuring Rapper Big Pooh of one of my favorite groups ever, Little Brother.  The visuals are presented by BDMG and directed by Kent Willard of Depth of Sound Productions.

Okay, everyone knows that I love Common, like to the point that I’d give up chicken strips and have his children if he asked me.  It’s not a groupie type of love, it’s like a metaphorical entrance into a union! YES! Anyway, with that being said, I’m also a pretty honest music listener and dare I say it– I’m not crazy about The Dreamer The Believer at all, aside from a few songs– this isn’t one of them.

But whatever, get the album tomorrow, and enjoy the visuals.

Again with late posts, sigh, I promise I will be on top of it this week. If you follow the blog, you’d see that I definitely dig Kalae All Day, and her project Pass Times & Crass Lines, and here are new visuals from that project.  If you do not have that album, you are definitely slacking it’s a pretty dope project from start to finish– and this, I don’t just say my friends.

All Day is an emcee/singer/songwriter and self proclaimed “Lyrical Vandal”. The Harlem native has been making an impression in the underground Hip Hop scene since 2008 and has countless shows across the United States under her belt. Kalae released her first recorded project in 2010. The album includes guest appearances by Homeboy Sandman, Princess Superstar and Likwuid, to name but a few. It has been compared to the likes of Mos Def’s second project by Beyond Race Magazine; “The multi-eclectic approach of Kalae’s album raises a similar question as Mos Def’s sophomore solo, which challenges listeners’ definition of what hip-hop is, by including sounds from some of hip-hop’s mother genres.” The music video for the first single, “O.G.LYRIKALBOOKBAGGER” featuring Homeboy Sandman was an underground hit.  2011 has been a huge year for Kalae. MTV did a spotlight campaign on Kalae called “Inspire U.” The network wanted to showcase an up and coming female talent, the piece ran daily on the network for 3 months.Since then she has released an EP which was a collaboration with Def Poet SciryL Cooper called ‘The Sun, The Moon and The Stars’ and a mixtape Pass Times & Crass Lines featuring YC the Cynic. Look out for more to come from the ‘Lyrical vandal’

I’m pretty big on songs and visuals that match each other well, and here is a good example.  Here are new visuals from Seattle based emcee J.Pinder in the form of “Go Far,” which is available on ITunes here.

On “Go Far” J. Pinder again teams up with director Jon Augustavo to tie a visually arresting style to the ultra smooth track.  The story of love and loss, on the trains and streets of New York, simultaneously juxtaposes and compliments the deep lyrical material of the new Pinder single.  Artful and stylistically original – the video conveys a strong image of the road that J. Pinder is moving along as an artist.

Miss Special talked to Dom Kennedy about winning the Monopoly game in Smoke DZA’s video, working with Nipsey Hussle, Freddie Gibbs and what it was like being a part of the BET Cyphers this year. We also spoke about K. Roosevelt’s upcoming solo project, the highlights of his live show and the comparison between Pharrell’s “That Girl” and his song “The Ways”. In addition we talked about his upcoming videos for “Platinum Chanel” and “The Ways” and insight on his next project coming February 2012.

She talked to Skeme about his newest release “Before My Next Statement”, including releasing it untagged with more songs, working again with Beats4Clothes and the fan favorites on the project. We also spoke about his video for “M.O.B” including the flack he received on using the Malcolm X clip, working with Kay Cola, working with Pac Div and K. Roosevelt’s upcoming solo project. In addition we talked about his upcoming song and video with Dom for “The Statement 2″, the process on “The Statement 2″ and more.

Long time no blog at all, hope all is well with everyone.  As you know, I like VV Brown, which is reflected in several blog posts on the site, as well as my exclusive interview with VV for GrungeCake which you can check here.  With that being said yesterday, VV Brown visited and joined forces with PS22 chorus of 2012.  PS22 is a child based choir, and VV teamed up with them for three of her songs, “Shark In The Water,” “Famous,” and “Children,” which you can catch below.  VV’s new album, Lollipops & Politics, will be entering stores February 7th,2012.  Make sure to stay up to date with the release and etc, it should be a great project. This is so adorable, the little kids are adorable especially those three girls in the camera who are super into it. #keepartsalive.
